****It is THE LAW that any student interested in trying out for a sport, MUST HAVE a TSSAA physical and concussion form, signed by a licensed physician, on file here at Crestview Middle. No physical, no tryout.

Cross Country is a fall sport. No word has been received on a tryout date as of yet. Please watch this page for future updates on when this opportunity is announced. It is the responsibility of the child to inform their parent in a reasonable amount of time that they want to try out for this sport before the deadline dates expire as it is at the coach's discretion to decide whether or not to accept late tryouts for the team roster.
Cross Country will look different this year due to Covid-19. As of now, there is only one definite meet in September. The team will be more like a running club to co-condition for the WTAC meet. Tryouts will be scheduled beginning on Monday, August 17 starting at 3:30 and ending at 5:00. Please email Coach Byrd at firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule your child’s time. Your child must have a current physical on file in order to try out. A good rule of thumb to prepare for tryouts is to be able to complete two miles in 15 minutes or less. There can be no more than 7 girls and 7 boys on each team.
CMS Cross Country runner Kinlee Carver placed 3rd in WTAC cross country meet and conference meet on September 29. She had a personal best time of 14:31. She was also awarded All Conference. She will advance to State this Saturday, October 3.
REMEMBER: A physical form and concussion form are required to be on file before you can try out.
